Youths under the Arewa Youth Assembly on Wednesday held a solidarity rally in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, in support of the Federal Government’s establishment of the Nigerian Army’s 10 Division in the state.
The group said the creation of the new military formation would strengthen security operations in Taraba and improve the response to security challenges across the wider North-East region.
Speaking with journalists during the procession, the spokesperson for the Arewa Youth Assembly, Aliyu Mohammad Sani, described the division as an important strategic development that demonstrated the Federal Government’s commitment to tackling insecurity.
According to Sani, the new formation would provide a stronger security presence in Taraba and give residents greater confidence in ongoing efforts to protect communities.
He said the establishment of the division showed that the concerns of residents in the region were receiving attention from the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Sani also praised the Federal Government for increasing the salaries of military personnel, describing the move as an important boost to the morale of troops, particularly those serving in frontline and high-risk areas.
He further commended the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff for their contributions to strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.
The youth leader said the presence of the new Army division had renewed optimism among residents, adding that stronger security operations could help create a safer environment for communities across the state.
Also speaking at the rally, spokesperson for the Taraba People’s Movement, Comrade Umar Sani Bello, said the procession was organised to express the appreciation of Taraba residents to the Federal Government for establishing the military formation.
Bello said the development had renewed hope among residents for improved security and stability in the state and the broader region.
He assured that the people of Taraba were willing to work with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies by providing the necessary cooperation and support to improve security operations.
The rally highlights growing expectations among residents that the new military formation will play a significant role in addressing security challenges and protecting communities across Taraba and neighbouring areas.
