Out-of-Control Donkey Jumps Into Van, Attacks Three Passengers

A runaway donkey reportedly went on a biting and kicking rampage in Germany after escaping from its enclosure alongside a horse and later jumping into a van, leaving three people injured.

The incident occurred on Friday, August 21, near a roundabout in Holssel, south of Cuxhaven, after motorists spotted the two animals wandering loose and attempted to secure them.

The donkey, identified as Freddy, reportedly became aggressive when people tried to intervene. It later jumped into a van and attacked two people inside, repeatedly kicking and biting them.

The victims managed to escape with minor injuries. A 33-year-old woman was also injured and required hospital treatment after attempting to assist during the incident.

The situation eventually came under control after Freddy’s owner arrived and managed to restrain the animal. The donkey was subsequently returned to its enclosure and secured behind a chain-link fence.

German police said the reason for Freddy’s aggressive behaviour remained unclear.

Local media speculated that the donkey may have been trying to protect the mare that had escaped with it. Veterinary authorities were notified following the incident.

The circumstances surrounding the unusual outburst remain under investigation, while no further details about the injured individuals were immediately available.
