An unidentified woman has been found dead on the premises of a church in the Obelewo area of Osogbo, Osun State, with her left wrist reportedly severed.
The discovery prompted police detectives to visit the scene and commence an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, Ani Iniedu, preliminary findings indicated that the woman had been killed and that her left wrist was cut off and taken away by unidentified individuals.
The police said the motive behind the killing remains unclear, while the identity of the deceased has yet to be established.
Iniedu said detectives were working to identify the woman and determine what led to her death.
He added that the remains had been taken to a hospital mortuary, where an autopsy would be conducted to assist the investigation.
The police spokesperson further disclosed that the State Command’s Investigation Department had taken over the case as efforts continued to uncover the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and identify those responsible.
