President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, describing the victory as a confirmation of the confidence the people of the state have in his leadership.
Adeleke secured another term in office following the governorship election held in Osun State on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
In a statement issued by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu said he had personally called Adeleke to congratulate him on his electoral victory.
“I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirms the people of Osun State’s confidence in him,” the President said.
Tinubu urged the governor to use his second term to unite the people of Osun State and work towards the development of the state, irrespective of how they voted during the election.
“I wish him great success as he prepares to lead the state for the next four years. Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made in the election,” he said.
The President also commended the other candidates who participated in the election, praising their courage and discipline and noting that their participation contributed to the growth of Nigeria’s democratic culture.
According to Tinubu, the outcome of the election reflects the wishes of the people and demonstrates that democracy will continue to thrive in Nigeria.
He further praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for ensuring that the election was conducted peacefully and transparently, resulting in a clear winner.
