Two U.S. service members were killed during a military operation in Jordan, while another remains missing, according to a statement released Saturday by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). Four additional American troops were injured in the incident, received medical treatment at hospitals in Jordan, and have since been discharged.
Military officials have not released details about how the attack unfolded. However, CENTCOM said the casualties occurred during a joint operation involving U.S. and partner forces as they defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks.
The identities of the troops who were killed, injured, or reported missing have not yet been made public. The U.S. military said it will release further information after next of kin have been notified, a process that typically takes about 24 hours.
According to U.S. military figures, the ongoing conflict has claimed the lives of 16 American service members and left more than 430 others wounded.
Iran Issues Fresh Warning
The military update came shortly after Iran’s supreme leader delivered a strong warning to the United States, saying Washington would face “unforgettable lessons” if it continues its military campaign against the Islamic Republic.
The statement, broadcast on Iranian state television and attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei, also dismissed the authority of President Donald Trump’s signature, describing it as “worthless and invalid.”
The remarks followed comments from an Iranian negotiator who announced that Tehran was suspending its commitments under an interim agreement reached about a month ago.
Tensions Continue to Rise
Iran’s latest announcement has further weakened hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough, as fighting across the region continues with no clear end in sight. The interim agreement had been intended to pave the way for a lasting ceasefire, but both sides now appear to be moving further apart.
Iran also warned that its allied armed groups, often referred to as the “Axis of Resistance,” could play a greater role in responding to continued U.S. military actions.

CENTCOM said its latest overnight operation marked the seventh consecutive night of strikes, targeting surveillance systems, military logistics facilities, underground weapons storage sites, and maritime capabilities.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi later told state television that Tehran was no longer honoring the commitments outlined in the interim agreement, arguing that the United States had already violated the deal through its continued military operations.
The developments underscore the growing instability in the region, with diplomatic efforts stalled and both sides signaling they are prepared for a prolonged confrontation.
