A Texas mother of five posted a cryptic message about God’s protection just days before she was allegedly killed by two sisters and a friend.
“May God protect me from what my eyes don’t see and what my ears don’t hear,” read a prayer video posted on Caroline “Caro” Peña’s Facebook account on June 11. It was her final post.
According to Del Rio police, Peña, 32, was involved in a confrontation last Thursday during which 19-year-old Amaya Cookie Diaz allegedly stabbed her multiple times in the back. A photograph reportedly captured during the daytime incident shows the attack unfolding.
Police say Diaz’s sister, 21-year-old Kitty Mia Diaz, and their friend, 21-year-old Kyandra Renee Faz, are also implicated in the incident. Authorities allege that after Peña was stabbed, the two women assaulted her.
Following the attack, Peña was transported to a local hospital and later transferred to a medical facility in San Antonio, where she died that night from her injuries.
All three suspects were arrested and charged with first-degree murder. They remain in custody after each was issued a $5 million bond during their initial court appearance on Friday. All three requested court-appointed legal representation.
