Online personality Solomon Buchi has criticised Pastor Tobi Adegboyega over comments in which the clergyman appeared to question the need for people to fear hell while encouraging them to focus on building their lives and making money.
Reacting to the remarks, Buchi described Adegboyega as a “false prophet” and argued that his comments were contrary to Christian teachings.
Buchi said he does not support using fear of hell to compel people to serve God. However, he maintained that hell is real, noting that it is mentioned repeatedly in the Bible.
He also faulted Adegboyega for encouraging people to pursue wealth and enjoy life without, in his view, placing sufficient emphasis on God, righteousness and obedience to divine teachings.
Buchi further challenged the pastor’s argument that hell cannot be real because no one has died, gone there and returned to give an account of it. He argued that applying the same reasoning could raise questions about other matters of Christian faith, including the existence of Jesus Christ.
The online personality maintained that Christians should not dismiss biblical teachings about hell simply because they cannot be verified through personal experience.
