NDC to Atiku: Step Down, Back Peter Obi to Unseat Tinubu

The Director of New Media and Strategic Communications for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Theo Abu Agada, has called on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race and support NDC candidate Peter Obi.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Agada argued that stepping aside would consolidate opposition strength and boost their chances of defeating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Agada emphasized that relinquishing his presidential ambition would not harm Atiku’s political legacy but would instead enhance the opposition’s prospects.

Praising the former Vice President’s vision and character, the NDC chieftain wrote:

“AA is a good and solid man, but he needs to give it up at this point. His idea for a working Nigeria is brilliant, but at this point, he needs to give up his ambition. If he steps aside, nothing is going to affect his sterling legacy. AA should support Obi to kick the APC out.”

The call comes as Atiku publicly declared that the 2027 presidential election will mark his final attempt at the presidency, regardless of the outcome.
