The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man, identified as Ahmed Saleh, over allegations of criminal trespass, attempted rape, impersonation, and theft at Malikiyya College of Health Sciences in Old GRA, Bauchi.
The arrest was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, in a statement issued on Friday, July 24, 2026.
According to the police, the suspect, who is from the Kobi area of Bauchi, allegedly entered a female students’ hostel at the college around 2:30 a.m. while wearing a full police camouflage uniform. He reportedly claimed to be an employee of Garu Security Service, Bauchi.
The incident was brought to the attention of the police through a distress call from the college at about 6:30 a.m. on the same day.
SP Habib said officers from the “B” Division of the command, led by the Divisional Police Officer, responded to the report and moved to the location, where the suspect was arrested. The camouflage uniform he was wearing was also recovered as evidence.
Following preliminary investigations, police said further information emerged linking the suspect to other theft incidents reported within the hostel area.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. The command added that he would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, warned individuals and private security companies against impersonating security agencies, stressing that such actions would not be tolerated.
He also reassured residents, particularly students in educational institutions across the state, that the police command remains committed to protecting lives and property.
