Police rescue woman from attempted kidnapping in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has rescued a young woman from an attempted abduction by suspected bandits in Kukoki community, Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, May 14, by its spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu.

According to Aliyu, police operatives in Danmusa received a distress call reporting that armed men suspected to be bandits had stormed the community and attempted to abduct the victim.

Following the report, the command deployed a special patrol team to the area, leading to a gun battle between the operatives and the suspects.

“The officers trailed the suspects and engaged them in a fierce exchange of gunfire, forcing the bandits to abandon the victim and flee with gunshot wounds,” the statement read.

Aliyu added that efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
