AI-powered robots took to the streets of Warsaw, Poland, in an unusual protest calling for greater regulation of artificial intelligence and the protection of human jobs.
The robots gathered in front of the Ministry of Digital Affairs in Warsaw, where they held different flags and attempted to deliver their message in a distinctly human way.
Organised by Democratism, the initiative aims to spark a broader debate about how artificial intelligence and robotisation are transforming the labour market and the potential implications for the working class.
The robots were also seen chanting slogans related to the cause, drawing attention to growing concerns about the impact of artificial intelligence and automation on employment.
One of the robots at the demonstration identified itself as Agibot A3, a humanoid robot operated by Delta Robots.
“My name is Agibot A3, and I am a humanoid robot operated by Delta Robots. I am not protesting because democratism is not a movement against robots or artificial intelligence. The robots here are meant to demonstrate that this technology is already a reality.”
The event was organised to encourage discussion about the principles that should govern the implementation of artificial intelligence and its potential impact on the labour market.
Speaking at the protest, organiser Grzegorz Kulis said:
“As people who work with this every day and are immersed in these technologies, we feel the pace of change a little more than our fellow citizens, and we feel obligated to inform everyone. We may soon have a problem, and we need to start talking about it.”
The demonstration highlights a growing global debate over the rapid development of artificial intelligence, automation and robotics, particularly their potential to reshape workplaces and displace human workers.
As AI-powered machines become increasingly capable and widespread, questions about regulation, employment and the future of work are likely to remain at the centre of public debate.
