The Rivers State Police Command has announced the arrest of four suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate, following a successful operation that led to the rescue of a kidnap victim and the recovery of a vehicle allegedly used by the gang.
The operation was launched after a report was filed by Mr. Ikechukwu, who informed the police that his 35-year-old wife, Mrs. Ikechukwu, had been abducted by armed men on Saturday, July 11, 2026, while attending to customers at her business premises. The suspects were said to have forced her into a white tinted mini-bus before fleeing the area.
Following the report, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) of the Rivers State Police Command commenced an intelligence-led investigation aimed at tracking down the suspects and securing the victim’s release.
Acting on the directives of the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, the operatives arrested four suspects allegedly linked to the kidnapping operation. The suspects were identified as Owhor Chinedu, 42, from Onelga Local Government Area; Isioto Waribok, 30, from Addoni Local Government Area; Maduabuchi Emeka, 34, from Onelga; and Joe Karachi, 28, also from Onelga Local Government Area of Rivers State.
During the operation, police recovered a white mini-bus believed to have been used by the gang to carry out the abduction.
According to preliminary findings by investigators, the suspects have admitted their alleged involvement and disclosed their individual roles in the crime.
The police said efforts are ongoing to arrest two other members of the syndicate who remain at large, as well as recover the firearms allegedly used during the kidnapping operation.
