Suspected bandits abduct Okada union chairman, two others in Kogi State

Suspected bandits have abducted three members of a commercial motorcycle riders’ union in Kogi State.

The victims were kidnapped on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, along the Ageva–Magongo road.

They were identified as Mr Jonathan Stephen Monday, Chairman of the union’s Ogori Branch, Mr Ashemadaun Eben, and Mr Mosigbodi Jethro Adoga.

Eyewitnesses said the victims were part of a delegation of union members who had travelled to Lokoja to attend a solidarity rally in support of the re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to sources, they were returning from the event when the bus conveying them was ambushed by heavily armed bandits along the Ageva–Magongo axis, a route that has recently witnessed a rise in attacks on commuters.

The incident has heightened tension in the area, with residents and commercial motorcycle operators expressing concern over worsening insecurity. They have called on security agencies and the state government to intensify efforts to secure the route and ensure the safe release of the abducted victims.
