Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has officially parted ways with South African side Chippa United, bringing an end to his four-year stint at the club and becoming a free agent.
Chippa United confirmed Nwabali’s departure on Thursday, revealing that the 29-year-old had formally requested to leave, despite having signed a three-year contract extension in 2024. The club graciously accepted his request and granted him a release.
In an official statement, Chippa United expressed their gratitude for Nwabali’s contributions
“We would like to sincerely thank Stanley Nwabali for the years of service, commitment, and professionalism he has shown during his time at Chippa United Football Club. His contribution to the club will always be appreciated, and we wish him success in the next chapter of his career.”
Taking to Instagram to say his goodbyes, Nwabali shared a heartfelt message:
“I leave with a heart full of gratitude… this isn’t just a farewell; it’s an appreciation for every moment you’ve given me.”
Nwabali joined Chippa United from Katsina United in 2022 and went on to make 76 appearances across all competitions, keeping 25 clean sheets. He also played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s third-place finish at AFCON 2025, cementing his reputation as one of the country’s top goalkeepers.
As Nwabali looks ahead to the next stage of his career, fans and pundits alike will be watching closely to see where this talented goalkeeper lands next.
