Media personality Toolz has sparked fresh conversations about relationships and family approval after sharing her candid views on dating and parental influence.
In a post shared on Instagram, the on-air personality raised questions many people quietly grapple with: Would you stay in a relationship if your partner’s parents don’t like you? And what happens when your own family doesn’t approve of the person you’re dating?
Offering her personal perspective, Toolz said she would not hesitate to walk away if her partner’s parents — particularly his mother — were against the relationship.
“You rarely win that battle if you’re at war with the mum, whether you’re right or wrong,” she said, explaining that the emotional toll of such a situation is often too heavy to carry.
However, Toolz noted that she would take a different approach if the issue involved her own family. According to her, she would be more willing to give the relationship time and try to make things work.
She explained that her late father, in particular, was not someone who warmed up to people easily and often needed time before fully accepting others. Because of that, she believes patience and understanding can sometimes change initial disapproval into acceptance.
Toolz’s comments have since resonated with many fans, reigniting discussions about the role family approval plays in romantic relationships and the difficult choices people often face when love and family expectations collide.
