Several Nigerian content creators and social media influencers are now receiving payments from X, a microblogging platform formerly known as Twitter, through its ad revenue-sharing initiative.
This payout program, initially launched in the United States last month, has now been expanded to include X users globally. However, it is currently available exclusively to verified users in Nigeria and other countries who have exceeded a certain impression threshold on their content.
To qualify for the payout, interested users must be subscribed to Twitter Blue and have accumulated over five million impressions monthly on their tweets for the past three months. Additionally, they are required to possess a valid Stripe payment account.
It’s important to note that X’s policy strictly prohibits monetization of copyrighted material that users do not own, as well as content related to “pyramid schemes or get-rich-quick schemes” (specifically addressing crypto spammers), violent or criminal activities, gambling, and substances like drugs and alcohol.
Numerous Nigerian creators have already begun sharing proof of their earnings, expressing gratitude for the initiative, and some have extended their thanks to Elon Musk for his involvement in making this opportunity possible.
