Massimiliano Allegri has been appointed as Napoli’s new head coach, the Serie A club announced on Friday, July 3.
In an official statement, Napoli confirmed Allegri’s appointment, adding that the 58-year-old has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2029.
Allegri previously managed Juventus in two spells (2014–2019 and 2021–2024) and AC Milan from 2010 to 2014. During his coaching career, he has won multiple Serie A titles and domestic trophies, establishing himself as one of Italy’s most successful managers.
Antonio Conte leaves Napoli after leading the club to the Serie A title in the 2024/25 season and a second-place finish in the most recent campaign. He is widely regarded as the leading candidate to become Italy’s next national team coach.
Conte previously managed the Italy national team between 2014 and 2016, guiding the Azzurri to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016, where they were eliminated by Germany in a penalty shootout.
Napoli’s managerial change is part of a busy summer in Serie A, with nearly half of the league’s clubs making changes in the dugout ahead of the new season.
