Singer Mr Real: I’d Rather Join Banditry Than Sell Kulikuli and Akara

Nigerian singer Mr Real has rejected recent economic advice from First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, saying he would rather “join banditry” than engage in petty trading.

The “Legbegbe” crooner made the controversial remark while reacting to the First Lady’s recent comments on economic empowerment.

Last Thursday, Mrs. Tinubu advised low-income Nigerians to consider starting small-scale businesses such as frying akara (bean cakes), roasting corn, or producing kuli-kuli (peanut cakes), saying such ventures require minimal start-up capital and could provide a source of income.

Responding to the advice, Mr Real dismissed the suggestion, insisting that petty trading was not a realistic solution to the country’s economic challenges.

“I would rather join banditry than sell kuli-kuli and akara,” the singer said, sparking mixed reactions on social media.
