NNPP’s Mukhtar Umar Yarima Reinstated as Lawmaker by Appeal Court

The Court of Appeal has reinstated Mukhtar Umar Yarima of the New Nigeria Peoples Party as the legislator representing Tarauni Federal Constituency in Kano state.

Yarima had previously been removed from office by the National and State Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal in Kano due to allegations of presenting a counterfeit primary school certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Nevertheless, on Saturday, October 7, an appellate court diverged from the tribunal’s decision. It determined that the tribunal had not successfully proven the case of forgery.
