Jeff Bezos in Talks to Buy Stake in Premier League Giants Liverpool

A group of investors seeking to acquire a minority stake in Liverpool Football Club has reportedly held preliminary discussions with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos about joining their bid.

According to reports from Sky Sports, the talks involve a consortium led by British-Indian businessman Amit Bhatia, although no agreement has been reached. Sources indicate that Bezos has not yet decided whether he will participate in the proposed investment.

Bhatia, a former co-owner of Queens Park Rangers (QPR), is leading the consortium’s efforts to secure a share in the Premier League club. He is also the son-in-law of steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal. The investment group is said to be working with financial advisers as negotiations continue with Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), over the purchase of a minority stake.

Fenway Sports Group has previously sold a small portion of the club. In 2023, the ownership group offloaded a reported four per cent stake to US-based private equity firm Dynasty Equity in a deal valued at approximately £164 million.

While discussions remain at an early stage, any involvement from Bezos—whose net worth is estimated at around £192 billion—would represent another high-profile link between global business figures and elite football ownership.
