Stanley Nwabali Completes Chippa United Return Five Months After Mutual Exit

The 30-year-old goalkeeper rejoins the Chilli Boys after spending the past seven months away from competitive football — a spell that affected his international career and contributed to his absence from Nigeria’s senior national team.

Chippa United confirmed Nwabali’s return on Sunday via its official social media platforms, expressing their excitement at welcoming the goalkeeper back to the Eastern Cape.

“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome @nwabali32 back to the Chilli Boys,” the club stated.

In a follow-up message, the club added: “After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club.”

Nwabali joined Chippa United from Katsina United in 2022 and gained widespread recognition after his impressive performances during Nigeria’s run to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

However, his prolonged absence from competitive football following his departure from the club affected his form and availability, ultimately costing him his place in the Super Eagles squad. The goalkeeper will now hope to revive his career and reclaim his position as Nigeria’s first-choice shot-stopper with a strong return to club football.
