Plateau boy rescued after over two months in kidnapper’s captivity

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace, working in collaboration with community leaders, have rescued a kidnap victim who was held captive for more than two months in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The victim, identified as Yahaya Uddido, was abducted on April 9, 2026, from Pikat community in Kanam LGA. He regained his freedom following sustained non-kinetic efforts involving community leaders and troops of Sector 2 of Operation Enduring Peace.

A security source said the collaborative efforts eventually compelled the abductors to abandon the victim in the Kukawa general area, where he was rescued by troops at about 12:20 p.m. on June 18.

“The rescue was achieved through a non-kinetic approach involving continuous engagement and collaboration between community leaders and security forces. The victim was abandoned by his captors and safely recovered by troops,” the source said.

Following the rescue, Uddido was reunited with his family in Wase Local Government Area.
