The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, has appointed Anietie Iniedu as the new Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the outgoing Force PRO, Anthony Placid, who described Iniedu as “a seasoned police officer with extensive experience in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, institutional accountability, and administration.”
The statement noted that Iniedu, a native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo. He has also undergone several professional training programmes in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication, and intelligence analysis.
“He is a seasoned police officer with extensive experience in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, institutional accountability, and administration,” the statement read in part.
Iniedu succeeds Anthony Placid, who was appointed Force Public Relations Officer in March 2026.
Before his appointment, Iniedu served as the Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he coordinated public complaint management and championed initiatives aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
He also previously served as the Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun State, and has held several other operational and administrative positions across the country.
