Police Confirm Kidnapping of Medical Doctor in Edo State

The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a medical doctor and his brother in Edo State.

The victims were identified as Dr. Abu Ibrahim Babatunde and his brother, Abu Tahir. They were reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday evening in front of their residence at Ibira Camp, Auchi, while attempting to open their gate. Dr. Babatunde recently completed his housemanship at the Edo State Teaching Hospital in Auchi.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, Eno Ikoedem, said the case was reported at about 8:30 p.m. She explained that officers from the Auchi Divisional Police Headquarters were immediately dispatched to the area following the report.

According to the police spokesperson, security operatives are working closely with local vigilante groups, forest guards, and Community Safety Partnership Volunteers who are familiar with the surrounding forest terrain.

She added that intensive search-and-rescue operations are currently underway within the forest and nearby areas.

The police have assured the victims’ family and members of the public that every effort is being made to secure the safe rescue of the abducted men.
