Francis Uzoho has expressed his relief and joy at returning to the Super Eagles after making the final 28-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Uzoho had been out of the national team for a considerable period, with Stanley Nwabali establishing himself as the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper. His inclusion in both the 55-man provisional squad and the final 28-man list for AFCON came as a surprise to many.
Speaking after arriving at the Super Eagles camp in Cairo, Egypt, Uzoho told the team’s media:
“I was filled with joy, a joy I cannot express. It’s a relief to be back with the boys, to feel that same connection we used to have, and most importantly, to represent Nigeria.”
Reflecting on what he missed during his time away from the team, he added:
“I missed quite a lot, especially the boys. I missed the vibe in the camp because we’ve spent so much time together. Even though we check in with each other occasionally, and I’m close to some teammates, what I really missed was being with all of them.”
