Troops of the 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP) have neutralised a bandit and recovered weapons and ammunition during operations in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Major Sampson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of JTF OPEP, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
According to him, troops staged an intelligence-led ambush against bandits along routes leading to Odare Forest at Dutsen Zaki in Wase on September 16.
“During the operation, troops made contact with bandits on motorcycles heading towards Odare Forest and neutralised one of them, while others fled with gunshot wounds through the forest,” the statement read.
Items recovered from the scene include a motorcycle, two mobile phones, a machete, and charms, all of which are in custody for further action.
In a separate operation on September 15, troops launched offensive attacks at identified bandit crossing points around Garga, Showaka, Yuli, and Kukawa villages in Wase and Kanam LGAs.
The statement noted that troops engaged the criminals with superior firepower, forcing them to flee in disarray. During the exploitation, troops recovered a G3 rifle, a G3 magazine, and three rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.
“The recent onslaughts against criminal elements, especially bandits in the Joint Operations Area, are part of the resolve of 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE to continually neutralise armed criminals and bring perpetrators of crimes to justice,” the statement added.
