Changing a name doesn’t kill purpose” – Terry G says becoming Terry Gzus was divine redirection

Singer Terry G has responded to critics who claimed his music career ended when he changed his name to Terry Gzus.

In a recent Instagram post, the artist shared a striking photo alongside a message aimed at clarifying misconceptions about his rebrand.

“They say my career ended the day I became Terry Gzus. But let me set the record straight — my journey didn’t end; it was divinely redirected,” he wrote.

Terry G explained that the name Gzus is not a reference to Jesus Christ, but rather “a reflection of the God in me — fearless, chosen, and unapologetic.”

He concluded his statement with a powerful message: “You don’t kill purpose by changing a name. What’s ordained can’t be cancelled.”
