One of the most emotional moments at the Headies Awards last night came when the family of the late Mohbad stepped up to receive his award for Best Street Hop Artist. His wife, their young son Liam, and his younger brother took the stage together, creating a touching and unforgettable scene.
In a short but powerful speech, Mohbad’s wife expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who had stood by their family. Speaking on behalf of her late husband and their son, she thanked the Headies for honoring Mohbad’s incredible talent and preserving his legacy.
While accepting the award, she said, “I don’t like to refer to him as my late husband because he lives on—especially through our son, Liam.”
With visible emotion, she shared that although Liam might not yet understand the magnitude of his father’s impact, she was certain that one day he would. She was confident he would come to see how deeply loved and respected his father was.
