Gunmen Abduct Two Local Government Workers and Five Others in Kwara

Gunmen have kidnapped seven people, including two senior officials of the Kwara State Local Government Service Commission, along the Omu-Aran/Ilorin Road.

The victims include Barrister Elizabeth Arinde, Head of the Legal Department at Oke-Ero Local Government, and the council’s Head of Personnel Management, whose name has yet to be confirmed. They were abducted alongside others at Corner Eleyin on the Omu-Aran/Ilorin Expressway while returning to Ilorin on Friday, April 25, 2025.

The incident, which occurred around 5:45 p.m., involved five gunmen who ambushed two private vehicles and led the passengers into the bush.

The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident on Saturday.

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed a kidnapping incident that occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Eleyin Village, near Isanlu-Isin. According to the report, approximately five armed men blocked the highway, intercepted two private vehicles, and forcefully abducted all occupants, taking them to an unknown location.

In response, the command, in collaboration with the military and local vigilantes, launched a swift rescue operation, successfully securing the release of two victims: Ganiyu Ajayi and Kolawole Adeyemi.

Efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining five victims and to apprehend the perpetrators.
