The Ondo State Government has disclosed the cause of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s demise, clarifying that he did not pass away in Lagos as initially reported. Akeredolu, aged 67, breathed his last on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
Contrary to widespread reports of his demise in a Lagos hospital due to a prolonged battle with blood cancer and leukemia, Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, stated in a Wednesday release that Akeredolu responded to the final call while undergoing medical treatment in Germany.
The governor succumbed to complications arising from an extended struggle with prostate cancer.
Further details regarding funeral arrangements will be released by the family and the state government.
