Mr. Ibu, who opened up about his ailing health on Instagram, revealed that he has been hospitalized for several weeks and is earnestly calling for prayers and assistance.
“I find myself still lying in the hospital. The hospital’s medical doctor has proposed the possibility of amputating my leg if their current treatment plan doesn’t yield positive results,” shared the actor. “It’s a distressing thought; if they cut off my leg, what will become of me? Where do I go from here?”
“Please, I implore you to join me in fervent prayer. Appeal to the Almighty for my healing; I earnestly wish to avoid amputation. Thank you all, and may God bless you,” he added.
In a video message, Chioma Okafor, the daughter of the renowned Nollywood actor, appealed for financial assistance. She disclosed that she had been shouldering the medical expenses, which have become increasingly burdensome.
“Dear Nigerians, at this critical juncture, as a family, we humbly request that people come to our father’s aid and rescue. We brought him to the hospital, and I have been solely responsible for the bills, but my financial resources are exhausted. I can’t do this alone; I’m reaching out for help,” she implored.
Okafor further elaborated that Mr. Ibu’s health has been marked by fluctuations, with periods of improvement followed by setbacks. She explained that her father had received care at a top-tier private hospital in Lagos, but regrettably, his condition had not improved.
Stella Okafor, the actor’s wife, also appealed for the support of Nigerians, emphasizing the constant pain and frequent tears that Mr. Ibu endures.
The actor marked his 62nd birthday while in the hospital on October 17.
