At the 2023 Ofala Festival in Onitsha, Anambra State, the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, expressed his appreciation for Globacom’s continuous support of the festival since 2011. In 2022, Globacom further solidified its commitment to the festival by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the palace, extending their partnership for an additional three years, from 2022 to 2025.
During the festival, Augustine-ndu Offor, Globacom’s Retail Sales Chief for the South East and South South regions, emphasized the company’s dedication to empowering Nigerians. He explained that by sponsoring Ofala and other key festivals across the country, Globacom is actively supporting communities in preserving and promoting their rich cultural heritage.
The sustained support of cultural festivals, such as Ofala, has significantly contributed to the economic growth of the surrounding region by fostering tourism.
