The eagerly awaited decision from the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPT) is set to be announced on Wednesday, September 6th.
The Court of Appeal Registrar, Umar Bangari, officially confirmed this development to Channels Television on Monday. He stated that the upcoming proceedings will be accessible for live broadcast, welcoming the interest of television stations.
The Labour Party (LP), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) – along with their respective presidential candidates – have jointly filed petitions with the tribunal. Their aim is to challenge the validity of President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.
Judgment is also anticipated to be rendered by election tribunals in 25 states for governorship, National Assembly, and state assembly election disputes.
The outcomes of the elections, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), are currently being disputed in at least 25 out of the 28 states where the elections took place.
