Liverpool reportedly secure a £60 million agreement to acquire Romeo Lavia from Southampton, a move made in response to the departure of Moises Caicedo to Chelsea.

Liverpool have reportedly reached a £60 million agreement to secure the signing of Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.

Jürgen Klopp is eager to reinforce his midfield following the unsuccessful pursuit of Moisés Caicedo from Brighton, who is set to join Chelsea for a British record fee of £115 million.

Although the Belgium international still has four years remaining on his contract with Southampton, a departure this summer seems likely, provided an interested party meets his £50 million valuation.

Recent reports indicated that Liverpool was considering raising their bid to £55 million in their pursuit of the Belgian talent. However, according to The Guardian, the Reds have now officially submitted a £60 million offer.

Southampton has accepted the proposal from Liverpool, a significant increase from their previous stance of not surpassing the £45 million mark. Nonetheless, the potential transfer of the midfielder to Anfield is not yet guaranteed.

Adding complexity to the situation, Mauricio Pochettino’s team is also aiming to disrupt Liverpool’s move for Lavia. Chelsea reportedly made a £55 million offer for Lavia last week.
