US President Donald Trump has claimed that the latest release of documents linked to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein clears him of any wrongdoing, saying the files reveal “the opposite of what many people were hoping for.” His comments come despite the documents containing allegations involving a sexual act with a young teenage girl.
Over the weekend, the US Department of Justice released more than three million additional pages connected to the Epstein case. The materials include around 2,000 videos and approximately 180,000 images.
Among the newly released files are images showing Hollywood director Brett Ratner—who is currently directing a documentary about First Lady Melania Trump—embracing a young woman while standing beside Epstein.
Reacting to the release, President Trump said he had not personally reviewed the documents but had been briefed by what he described as “very important people.”
“I didn’t see it myself, but I was told that not only does it absolve me, it’s the opposite of what many people were hoping for — you know, the radical Left,” Trump said.
The President has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein and has not been accused of any crimes by Epstein’s victims.
Trump also threatened legal action against Epstein’s estate and author Michael Wolff, accusing them of conspiring to damage his political career through emails referenced in the files.
Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump said: “Wolff, who’s a third-rate writer, was conspiring with Jeffrey Epstein to hurt me politically or otherwise, and that came through loud and clear. So we’ll probably sue Wolff… Maybe the Epstein estate. But we’ll certainly sue Wolff.”
In the images involving Brett Ratner, the 56-year-old filmmaker—best known for the Rush Hour series—appears seated on a sofa alongside Epstein and two women whose faces have been obscured.
The released documents do not indicate any wrongdoing by Trump.
