Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have intensified their ongoing counterterrorism campaign in Nigeria’s North-East, recording fresh successes in a series of intelligence-led operations targeting suspected terrorist collaborators and logistics networks.
According to a statement released by the military on Saturday, August 1, one of the operations took place on July 27, when troops of the 5 Brigade arrested six suspected collaborators of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Damasak, Borno State.
Military authorities said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were allegedly involved in raising funds for the terrorist group through the purchase and sale of cattle at markets in Gubio, Damasak and Ajuwango.
Items recovered during the operation included a Volkswagen Golf vehicle, vehicle keys, four mobile phones, processed cow meat and a cash sum of N317,950. The suspects remain in military custody as investigations continue.
In a separate development on July 29, the wife of a senior ISWAP finance operative and her 11-year-old son surrendered to troops of the 3 Battalion through Kusuma Village.
According to the military, initial findings revealed that the woman’s husband, who reportedly served as ISWAP’s Chief Finance Officer in Jubillaram, had earlier surrendered on July 25, 2026. After leaving the terrorist enclave, he reportedly instructed his wife and son to also surrender to security forces.
The military said both individuals have undergone initial screening and are currently being profiled in line with established procedures.
Meanwhile, troops of the 145 Battalion carried out a clearance operation in Turoh following credible intelligence reports. The troops reportedly advanced into the area, forcing suspected terrorists to flee before contact.
A search of the location led to the recovery of two motorcycles and a large quantity of illicit hard drugs believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing insurgents.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at disrupting terrorist logistics, finances and operational capabilities. The military also encouraged members of terrorist groups who are willing to lay down their arms to surrender, while urging the public to continue providing credible and timely information to support efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the region.
