Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed that he recently underwent successful treatment for a malignant prostate tumor, disclosing the information on Friday during his annual medical check-up.
Netanyahu, 76, said he deliberately delayed announcing the diagnosis for two months, stating he did not want the information to be “used as propaganda by Iran.”
The disclosure follows a previously reported procedure in December 2024 to treat an enlarged prostate. During follow-up examinations, doctors reportedly detected a malignant tumor measuring less than one centimeter.
Medical documentation described the finding as an “early detection of a very small lesion, with no metastases,” indicating that the cancer had not spread and was confined.
Sources familiar with the case said the diagnosis was made several months ago, after which Netanyahu underwent a course of targeted radiation therapy, which he has now completed.
Reflecting on his recovery, Netanyahu said the treatment was successful, noting that “the spot disappeared completely.” He expressed gratitude for his health outcome, adding, “Thank God, I am healthy,” and described the condition as a “minor medical issue with my prostate that was completely treated.”
