Erika Kirk and Candace Owens met on Monday, December 15, days after Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, appeared at a CBS town hall and urged Owens to stop promoting conspiracy theories about her late husband’s assassination.
Both Kirk and Owens confirmed the meeting on Monday evening, describing it as “productive” in separate posts on X. While they did not reveal specific details, Owens said the conversation lasted four and a half hours and that they “agreed on much more than I had anticipated.” Kirk had previously stated on X that they would have a “private, in-person meeting” and that public discussions, livestreams, and tweets were on hold until after the meeting. She added that she was looking forward to a “productive discussion.” Owens also expressed anticipation, writing that she was “very much looking forward to this discussion.”
The meeting follows Kirk’s town hall appearance on CBS with editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, which aired Saturday. When asked what she would say to Owens, who has amplified conspiracy theories about Charlie Kirk’s death, Erika Kirk simply replied: “Stop. That’s it. That’s all I have to say.”
Owens, a former friend of Charlie Kirk and former employee of his conservative nonprofit Turning Point USA, had previously described their relationship as akin to that of a “brother and sister.” The day after Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Owens posted a lengthy video emphasizing that she wanted him remembered for his career and ideas. However, in the months since, Owens has promoted conspiracy theories about his death and made unfounded claims about financial irregularities at Turning Point, which Erika Kirk now oversees.
