Charles Inojie criticizes women who use Nollywood as a cover for their questionable sources of income

Nigerian actor and comedian, Charles Inojie, has shed light on a concerning issue that seems to have infiltrated the core of the Nollywood industry. During a recent episode of OAP Nedu’s podcast, the ‘The Johnson’s’ star pointed out that a particular segment of women has tainted the Nigerian film industry by using the guise of being actresses to conceal their unsavory methods of income generation.

Inojie contended that some of these women boast of being award-winning actresses, yet their filmography lacks any notable work. He firmly asserted that their primary focus is leveraging their bodies to acquire luxurious cars and mansions, all while hiding behind the veneer of the acting profession. In reality, these individuals often struggle to make it past the audition stage, casting doubt on their genuine talent and dedication to the craft.

In addition, Inojie raised the issue of the prevalence of the “sex-for-role” practice in Nollywood, pointing out that it’s not solely the domain of filmmakers but also involves some actresses who willingly engage in such transactions to secure movie roles. He emphasized that there are actresses willing to go to great lengths to be in front of the camera, and when they encounter directors or producers who lack moral fortitude, they might exploit the situation. Therefore, the problem of “sex-for-role” is a two-way street, with both parties being culpable.

Furthermore, Inojie highlighted the presence of a group of individuals who aggressively pursue directors and producers, seemingly ready to compromise their principles for a chance in the limelight. This desperation among certain individuals, which he likened to the biblical Jezebel daughters, further exacerbates the issue within the industry.
