Joshua Set to Take on Finland’s Helenius as Replacement for Whyte

Anthony Joshua is set to square off against Robert Helenius in London this Saturday, following an unexpected twist that saw the Finnish boxer step in as a last-minute replacement for Dillian Whyte.

The all-British heavyweight bout that had been scheduled for last weekend was unfortunately canceled due to “adverse analytical findings” discovered in a doping test administered to Whyte. He remains committed to clearing his name from these allegations.

Despite this unexpected turn of events, the 39-year-old Helenius, who had recently competed in his home country, has graciously accepted the opportunity to face the former two-time world heavyweight champion.

Joshua expressed his thoughts on the situation, stating, “This deviation from the expected script was unforeseen. I hold Helenius in high regard, and I extend my respect to all individuals, regardless of gender, who step into the boxing ring.”

“My entire focus is fixed firmly on securing a victory. While my sights are set on achieving greater milestones in the future, the immediate checkpoint on my journey is Saturday night. Let the most deserving competitor emerge triumphant,” Joshua affirmed.

Helenius, boasting an impressive record of 32 victories and only four losses across 36 professional bouts, found himself stunned in the opening round by Deontay Wilder in October.

“I embody the spirit of a genuine Viking, always prepared to confront any challenge that arises suddenly,” declared Helenius.

“I was determined not to allow this opportunity to elude me. I am fully committed to capitalizing on it to the fullest extent!”
