Suspected thugs have killed a young man identified as Yusuf Ahmad in Dorayi Quarters, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.
According to Daily Trust, the incident occurred on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, following a clash that reportedly began after a young man from a neighbouring community was injured. The incident allegedly angered his friends, who were said to have mobilised to seek revenge.
The spokesman for the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said security personnel were deployed to the area after receiving a distress call.
An eyewitness, Salihu Shamsu Saleh, told the publication that Ahmad was returning home after attending a Maulud gathering when some suspected thugs accosted and attacked him with weapons.
He alleged that the attackers inflicted deep cuts on the victim’s chest and neck, resulting in his death.
The police said some suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident, while investigations were ongoing to identify and apprehend other persons involved.
Residents have appealed to youths to desist from taking the law into their own hands, warning that gang violence continues to put lives at risk.
