The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old suspected drug dealer, Aliyu Suleman, and recovered 64 bottles of Methylene Chloride, locally known as “Suck and Die,” along with 17 pieces of rubber solution.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, saying the arrest was part of ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and safeguard public health in the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, operatives of the Vehicle Crime Response Unit (VCRU) arrested Suleman during an intelligence-led operation at Bayan Gari in the Bauchi metropolis at about 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25.
The suspect, who is a resident of Tudun Salmanu, Bauchi, was intercepted during the operation and searched, leading to the recovery of the following items:
- 64 bottles containing Methylene Chloride, locally referred to as “Suck and Die”
- 17 pieces of rubber solution
The police said the recovered items had been registered as exhibits, while the suspect remained in custody and was cooperating with investigators.
“He will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation,” the statement added.
Reacting to the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reiterated the command’s commitment to clamping down on the distribution and abuse of harmful substances across the state.
He directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to intensify surveillance and operations aimed at dismantling networks involved in the sale and abuse of illicit drugs and other harmful substances.
The command also urged parents, guardians and community stakeholders to remain vigilant and provide timely information to the police, stressing that the fight against drug and substance abuse requires a collective effort.
