Police in Scotland are investigating the deaths of a husband and wife after their bodies were discovered at a secluded property in Renfrewshire.
The deceased have been identified as Stacy Mair, 35, and her husband, Jim Mair, 43, who were found near their cottage on Corsliehill Road in the Houston area. Authorities are currently treating both deaths as unexplained while investigations continue.
According to Police Scotland, officers were called to the location at around 7:50 a.m. on Monday, July 27, following a report expressing concern for an individual at the property. Emergency responders attended the scene, where they found the bodies of both a man and a woman.
Detectives have launched an extensive investigation to establish exactly what happened. Forensic officers were seen examining the area, and nearby roads were temporarily closed to allow investigators to carry out their work.
The couple, who married in 2019, were both employed by TRS Tree Surgery, a Glasgow-based company.
Police confirmed that post-mortem examinations will be conducted as part of the inquiry. While investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths, officials said there is currently no indication that anyone else was involved.
In a statement, Police Scotland said:
“An investigation is ongoing into the deaths of a 35-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man in the Houston area.
“Around 7:50 a.m. on Monday, July 27, we received a report of concern for a person on Corsliehill Road. Emergency services attended, and the bodies of a man and a woman were found nearby.
“The deaths are being treated as unexplained, and post-mortem examinations will be carried out in due course. Extensive enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances. At this time, there is nothing to suggest anyone else has been involved.
“Their relatives are aware and are being supported by specialist officers.”
Authorities have not released any further details as the investigation remains ongoing.
