Three young men were killed and a teenage girl injured after gunmen suspected to be Fulani militias opened fire at a relaxation spot in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), responded to reports of sporadic gunfire at about 7:58 p.m. on July 4, 2026, in the Rantiya community.
On arriving at the scene, the troops discovered the bodies of three male victims who had been shot dead, while a teenage girl sustained gunshot wounds during the attack. The bodies were evacuated to the General Hospital in Barkin Ladi, while the injured victim was rushed to Damlak Clinic for urgent medical treatment.
Security sources said troops have launched an operation to track down and apprehend the fleeing assailants responsible for the attack.
Authorities added that investigations into the incident are ongoing as security agencies continue efforts to restore calm and prevent further violence in the area.
