Three Killed, Five Injured in Philippines School Shooting

Two people opened fire at a high school in the central Philippines on Monday, June 22, killing three students and injuring five others, police said.

Authorities confirmed that two male suspects have been taken into custody. According to police, one of the suspects is a student at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, where the shooting occurred. Both suspects were reportedly armed with pistols.

Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the attack at the government-run school, which has more than 1,500 students. Additional police personnel have been deployed to the area to strengthen security.

“We urge the public to remain calm, refrain from disseminating unverified information, and cooperate with authorities by providing any information that may aid the ongoing investigation,” the Philippine National Police said in a statement.

School shootings are rare in the Philippines.
