Doctor Stabbed Repeatedly While Treating Patient at London Hospital

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a doctor was attacked while on duty at Hillingdon Hospital in west London.

The doctor, a man in his 50s, was stabbed several times inside the hospital at about 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26. He is believed to have been attacked while treating a patient.

Police officers were already at the hospital attending to an unrelated incident when the stabbing occurred.

The victim was taken to another hospital in west London for treatment. The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust confirmed that his injuries are neither life-threatening nor life-changing.

Mahdi Abdullahi, 27, from Uxbridge, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He is scheduled to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, May 27.

He has also been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A spokesperson for Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said:

“A member of our staff received non-life-threatening injuries in an incident at Hillingdon Hospital.

“We continue to support and reassure our staff following this incident.

“The safety and well-being of our staff is our highest priority, and any form of violence or aggression towards our teams is unacceptable.

“All of our services are open as usual.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:

“A man has been arrested after a doctor was stabbed at Hillingdon Hospital.

“Police officers, who were at the hospital following a separate report, responded at around 2:40hrs on Tuesday, 26 May, after a man stabbed a doctor.

“A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm.

“A man in his 50s was treated for his wounds at hospital. His condition has been deemed not to be life-threatening or life-changing.”
