Suspected kidnappers have abducted a young man identified as Nanmwa Turfa in Plateau State.

Turfa was reportedly kidnapped while returning home from Bokkos Local Government Area after writing the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination. The abductors are said to be demanding a ransom of N20 million for his release.

Meanwhile, troops under Sector 5 of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have launched a search-and-rescue operation following the abduction of a civilian in Bokkos LGA.

It is unclear whether the victim referenced in the military operation is Turfa.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred at about 5:00 a.m. on April 20 in Maiduna village, where suspected kidnappers took the victim to an unknown destination.

Sources said troops, in collaboration with other security agencies, responded swiftly and conducted search operations in the area but did not make contact with the perpetrators.

The sources added that the victim’s family later confirmed the kidnappers had reached out and were demanding a ransom of N1 million for the victim’s release.

Efforts are ongoing to track down the kidnappers and secure the victim’s safe return, while security presence has been reinforced in the area to prevent further incidents.
