Immigration police have arrested a Nigerian national found with 40 ecstasy pills and 10 grams of cocaine during an undercover operation in Bangkok, Thailand.

The suspect, identified as Chibuike, was apprehended at a condominium in Soi Inthamara 25 on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, following a detailed investigation by Division 1 of the Investigation Bureau into reports of active drug distribution in the area.

According to police, the suspect had been supplying narcotics to groups of foreign tourists in the Samsen Nai area of Phaya Thai District.

On December 11, 2025, senior Immigration Bureau officials held a press briefing at the bureau’s headquarters in Muang Thong Thani, led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Panthana Nuchanart, Deputy Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau. He was joined by Pol. Maj. Gen. Phanop Warathanachakun, Commander of the Investigation Bureau, and Pol. Col. Ratchot Chotikun, Deputy Commander.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Panthana said the case began after officers received a tip-off that a foreign man of African descent was selling narcotics to tourists in Soi Inthamara 25. Surveillance confirmed suspicious activity consistent with the report, prompting an undercover operation.

An agent contacted the suspect via WhatsApp and arranged to purchase 40 ecstasy pills and 10 grams of cocaine for a total of ฿102,000. Officers monitored all communications and coordinated a controlled delivery at a condominium in the area.

Multiple teams took positions near the meeting point. When the suspect arrived with the drugs, officers moved in and arrested him without resistance, seizing the narcotics and related items.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted the drugs were his and claimed he had obtained them from another foreigner of African descent, whom he refused to identify. He also confessed that he intended to sell the drugs to foreign tourists.

He has been charged with the illegal sale of Category 1 narcotics (ecstasy) and Category 2 narcotics (cocaine). He was transferred to Bang Sue Police Station for further legal processing as officers continue compiling evidence and forwarding items for forensic examination.

Investigators are also reviewing the suspect’s WhatsApp messages, phone records, and electronic communication to identify potential associates. His travel history and immigration status are being reviewed to determine how long he has operated in the area.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and further actions will depend on evidence recovered from the seized items. They are also tracing the source of the narcotics and verifying the suspect’s claim regarding an unidentified supplier.

Officials highlighted the importance of public tip-offs, noting that community reports often help identify offenders, particularly in high-traffic districts frequented by tourists and short-term visitors.

Authorities said surveillance will be maintained in the Inthamara area—an established entertainment zone since the 1960s—and extended to other parts of Bangkok known for high tourist activity. Details of future operations were not disclosed.

Forensic results from the seized drugs will be added to the case file before it is submitted to prosecutors. The suspect remains in custody pending further investigation.

Police noted that no additional information will be released until new evidence is verified.
