Update: Police arrest suspect over murder of Edo decorator

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the brutal murder of a 30-year-old interior and event decorator, Esohe Aigbe, in Benin City.

According to relatives, Aigbe had travelled to a funeral venue on Ujo Street in the Ogida area of the state capital to offer free decoration services as her personal contribution to a friend’s event.

She was reportedly attacked by unidentified individuals shortly after completing the decoration work. The victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), where she later died while receiving treatment.

The spokesperson for the command, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident, stating that preliminary investigations had linked a suspect identified as Faith to the crime.

According to the police, the suspect has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The command added that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other suspects believed to have been involved in the attack.
