Media personality, Toke Makinwa, has responded to a netizen who accused her of practicing “performative privacy” in how she shares content about her daughter, Yaya, on social media.

Toke, who welcomed her daughter in 2025, has been posting photos and videos of the child while deliberately keeping her face hidden.

The criticism came after she shared a video of Yaya with her face intentionally excluded. A social media user commented that while they respected her decision, selectively hiding the child’s face while showing other parts of her body amounted to “performative privacy.” The commenter further claimed the approach appeared “attention-seeking” and rooted in what they described as a private delusion.
